About Bandy

Bandy is a physical sport that requires teamwork, communication, strength, and agility. In its extreme form, the sport is fought with sticks and includes three players per team. The home stretch is marked by a yellow card that must be returned to the bench by the individual. The winner is the team with the most points at the end of the game. The game is run in two 20-minute halves, with a 15-minute intermission between halves. The game is played on a court, often referred to as a field, that measures 120 by 80 feet (36.2 m × 24.8 m). The field is divided into three zones with a net located in the middle of each zone. One team will stand on the court in the zone they choose to play in, and the other two will stand in the zone allocated to their opponents. A similar pitch is played in British schools (approximately 2.5 meters (8.2 ft) shorter), known as rugby football.

Since many countries have been very successful in the Bandy World Championship and the Olympic Games, players from those countries are commonly sought to play in the National Hockey League, National Hockey League Junior, International Ice Hockey Federation, and other national team sports. For example, many Russian players play in the NHL, and many Swedish players play in the Swedish Hockey League.

While based on the game of bandy, Finnish Sävy is fundamentally different. While the hockey variant still uses a rink and a ball, the Sävy variant uses a footbal court which is slightly smaller, and the teams take turns playing offense. The “official” rules of the game do not exist. The rules are a matter of interpretation, and players from different sides can and do use their own rules. While many games are played with only three players per team, some games are played with 4 to 5 players per team. Each team plays against each other two times, with each team having eight times on the court. Teams score two goals for a win and no more than one goal for a loss.

Bandy is a physical sport involving a line of players moving simultaneously across a rink in an attempt to score by shooting the puck over the net into the opposing team’s goal.

Bandy is a physical sport in which two teams try to score by throwing and tagging each other with small, hard plastic or foam balls.

Bandy is most frequently played among students aged in secondary school, and has been played at the Olympic Games since 1912.

Bandy is a physical sport that’s played with flat sticks and set up in a large circle. A line in the middle marks the boundaries of the court, alternating between the two teams who are in the middle and who get to go into the middle and kick the ball with their foot.
