- About Squash
Squash (also, more formally, squash racquets or squash rackets) is a racket and ball sport played by two players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. The players alternate in striking the ball with their rackets onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court. Squash can be played for points (individual), for a set or match (match), or as a timed event (time trial).
The aim of the game is to force opponents from the court (such that they cannot return the ball to their side) while trapping them behind the walls, as quickly as possible. As it must be squeezed between and behind the tennis-like stanchions and racquet strings, the ball is also central to gameplay, preventing opponents from shooting it back into the wall. As a squash player, an athlete who competes must rely on footwork, upper and lower body strength, agility, balance and timing.

While a forearm strain or a knee injury can occur, the legs are the most vulnerable parts of the body when playing squash. When you are in a standing position, your legs are constantly moving, and because the sport is played bare-handed, the wrist and elbow muscles are exposed. If you fall on a squash court, the risk of injury is extremely high, because you have no protection when you are lying down or while doing shots on the floor. You may also be at risk of bruising or deep muscle bruising. Avoid heavy stances that could put you in a vulnerable position. Squash racquets are notoriously powerful, and are almost always held in a hitting position. This means that you are exposing more of your body to the racquet, and you are also hitting your own body in the process. You can help reduce the risk of injury by placing your feet more safely, and trying to hold the racquet with less force when hitting it.
