The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles’ Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
The United States boasts an advanced, integrated economy and technology. It has the world’s largest military, with 2.3 million active service personnel and a further 550,000 reservists. There are two nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, one in Norfolk, Virginia, and another in San Diego.
The world’s largest air force by volume of aircraft flying is the United States Air Force. Lockheed Martin is the largest defense contractor in the world.
In the broadest sense, a United States is a group of states with shared cultural traditions. There are other places, in the world, where people still belong to nations, political entities, and confederations (but no country as a political entity). For instance, the regions of Anatolia and Moldavia (the so-called “Golden Corridor”), the countries of Monaco, Andorra, etc.
Today there is a group of nations called the European Union, and of course the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, India, Indonesia, Argentina, etc. These are not as complete and self-contained as the Republic of China (Taiwan), but are some of the many nationalities which share a common identity.
United States is the largest market for gel batteries followed by Europe, and Asia Pacific is expected to be fastest growing region during the forecast period. Moreover, the U.S and Europe dominate the market, both in terms of revenue and volume due to the regulatory support and growing demand from military and marine application. However, Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest growing region due to the growing adoption of the gel battery in various applications.
Who created the United States?
It has been said that there was no historical link between the Republic of China and the United States; indeed, the former was a colony of the latter. Some historical evidence suggests that there was an earlier union in colonial times, the Convention of Paris, which helped bring the southern colonies under the control of Great Britain. But this is not the case, and was so imprecisely stated in an English textbook, that it caused a dispute between the US and the UK.
While it is true that the current United States was not created from scratch by the Founders, it is only from the late 17th Century that the American colonists started to live together, sharing cultural traditions. And even that was a much contested issue, in part due to the fear of Indian raids in the west, a perception that the Founders themselves did not entirely accept. Delegates drafted the Articles of Confederation in 1777, which is one of the main foundations of the present United States, but was rejected by the American public. So the delegates came back to the Convention of 1787, which produced the United States Constitution.
What is the nationality of an American?
That is a very challenging question to answer. The reason why is because of the changing landscape of the USA over the years. The word “United States” in some ways means a “nation of states” but it is sometimes regarded as a commonwealth, a Union of States, a confederation, etc.
It is difficult to pin down who holds the historical title of “American”. At the height of US power, of course, we were said to be Americans. But today the United States has changed; it has been increasingly vulnerable to waves of immigrants from different continents, with Indian and Chinese immigrants being the biggest waves, with illegal immigration (especially through Mexico) making up a significant proportion of immigrants as well. Within the USA itself, this is a major source of tension.
